Book signing benefits Humane Society

Best-selling author Susan Richards was the featured speaker at an April 17 event presented by the Humane Society of Manatee County. The event was held at the home of Longboat resident Lillian Sands.

Richards is the author of “Chosen by a Horse,” Chosen Forever” and “Saddled,” which was published earlier this year.

The restorative gifts received from caring for an animal and the many ways it can help in facing challenges are two themes found in Richards’ books.

Humane Society Executive Director Denise Deisler spoke briefly at the event about the agency and the many programs it offers that assist animals. All proceeds from books sold at the event were donated to the Humane Society.
