Manatee County Sheriff's Office detectives identified bones discovered on a lot in the Country Meadows community as pig bones, the sheriff's office reported this morning.

A Palmetto man looking for a lot for sale in the Country Meadows community found appeared to be human remains in the back yard of the property Oct. 3. Sheriff’s office deputies responded to a call from Paul Cronen around 3:30 p.m., Sunday, and found numerous bone fragments strewn about and what looked to be a Styrofoam cooler that was also broken into pieces.

It appears the bones were run over by the lawn service maintaining the property.

Deputies found on scene a pair of black shoes with at least one bone sticking out of it. There appeared to be a segment of spine about 10 to 12 inches in length.
