Lori Hagey and fiancé Chad Ciaravella’s wedding bells, that is. In a fairytale proposal at the top of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai — the world’s tallest structure — Ciaravella popped the question on Sept. 30 with a custom-designed ring. The two celebrated their grand engagement with 130 friends and family members at The Lake Club on Jan. 7. The party included everything from tuxedo and wedding gown champagne flutes to a custom-made Instagram photo booth made to look like posts on a pretend “Chad&LoriTieTheKnot” account. The couple will wed on Nov. 17 at The Grove Park Inn as a destination wedding in Asheville, N.C.
Emily Stroud recently held a birthday party with a dress code that we don’t see at many black tie affairs. Stroud celebrated her 30th birthday with 40 of her closest friends at her Sarasota home on Dec. 30. The theme? “Wigging out,” which required guests to arrive in the best faux ‘do they could find, ranging from mohawks to hot-pink bobs. We wish we could just throw on a Emma-Stone-at-the-Golden-Globes wig to get ready for our next black tie event.
Diana and Matt Buchanan got a special surprise during their snowy getaway in Aspen on New Year’s Eve weekend. After getting off Aspen Mountain for a day of skiing, the Buchanans spotted Kris Jenner and her boyfriend, Corey Gamble, coming out of Gorsuch, a ski apparel store at the base of the mountain. Diana says she was shocked to see that the two weren’t accompanied by any security personnel. Diana also got a photo with Jenner, which confused Matt because he didn’t know who she was (but Diana quickly brought him up to speed right after). The Buchanans also shared a gondola with Maria Shriver and saw Reba McEntire and Nicky Hilton Rothschild on New Year’s Eve. It’s casual.
Wonder Women...They’re back! It’s official, your favorite supergirls — Veronica Brady, Susan Malloy Jones and Sally Schule — are back at it again to chair the annual Girls Inc. Celebration Luncheon for the second year in a row. The luncheon will be held Friday, March 31 at The Ritz-Carlton, Sarasota.
Everyone makes mistakes, but that means we’re also responsible for recognizing and taking responsibility for them. I want to express my most sincere apology to the Van Wezel Foundation for overlooking an error in the winter edition of our Season magazine. We picked the 16th Annual Van Wezel Foundation Gala to go in our "Black Tie Editor's Picks" in the front section of the magazine and unfortunately I typed a "9" instead of a "0" so the date reads Friday, Feb. 19. Let it be known that the correct date of the 2017 gala is Friday, Feb. 10.
