Longboat Key residents on the north end of Longboat Key will see beach equipment, including tractors, being placed on the beach starting today for a north-end beach restoration project.

Public Works Director Juan Florensa told The Longboat Observer residents would begin seeing bulldozers and equipment being placed on the beach near the North Shore Road beach access beginning Monday.

Town staff had been working to receive a permit from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. The permit allows the town to rebuild the entire beach profile, a 200-feet-wide beach that used to exist there that has been swept away from Broadway to north of North Shore Road.
