A Bayflite helicopter flew into Bayfront Park Friday morning for Longboat Key Fire Rescue training.

According to Lt. Skip Falcone, Bayfront Park is one of four established landing zones for the helicopter on the island. The helicopter requires a 60-by-60-foot landing zone during daylight hours and a 100-by-100-foot area at night.

The training session was held to update firefighters on the latest procedures for transporting patients via the helicopter, which is used primarily to transport trauma patients.
