Lakewood Ranch High senior guard Gabriella Diaz-Granados had a game-high 16 points while helping lead the Lady Mustangs to a 54-28 victory over Booker Dec. 12. Here is an inside look at this week’s Athlete of the Week.

What are your goals for this season?
I want to hit 1,000 points. I need about 100 more points.

Do you consider yourself a leader of this team?
Yes, I help motivate a lot.

How did you get into basketball?
My parents made me start playing when I was 11 years old.

What do you enjoy the most about basketball?
I like my teammates and the teamwork.

If you could play another sport for a day, what would it be?
Archery. I really just want a bow and arrow. The Wii game inspired me.

Do you know what you want to be when you grow up?
An emergency-room doctor.

Do you have any siblings?
I have a sister Michelle, 25, and a brother Nicolas, 20.

What was your favorite cartoon show growing up?
“Scooby Doo.” Scooby was adorable.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
The Maldives. I want to scuba dive there.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
To be telekinetic. It’d just be fun to mess with people.

Do you have a favorite sports team?
All University of Miami sports.

What’s your favorite subject?
Anatomy. It was just really interesting learning about all of the muscles and systems.

Are you from Florida originally?
Yes, I’m from Miami.
