Dave Gallagher started playing golf while he was in the service and stationed in Thailand when he was just 25 years old. Now, Gallagher can be found playing at least three to four days a week with other golfers at the Longboat Key Club. Gallagher spends part of the year on Longboat Key and the other part of the year in Atlanta. He also has two tournament wins at the club. We interviewed Gallagher to find out more about him and his love for the game of golf.

Can you tell us a little about the golf tournaments you have won?
I won the club championship for two years out here, and I also have been a runner-up here in the club championship. But the club is getting a lot better golfers, and I’m getting a lot older, so that might be a thing of the past.

What would you like to improve?
My putting. I think that you can really start scoring a lot better if you can control the number of strokes you take around the green. That’s one area that I’d drastically like to improve.

Best advice you’ve ever been given?
Probably the best golf advice that I’ve ever been given was given to me by Terry O’Hara, who’s really helped me with my game. He’s gotten me hitting through the ball rather than just slapping at it. It’s really improved my accuracy and my distance.
