Arrests made after movie theater shooting

An exchange of gunfire may have occurred in the parking lot of a Bradenton movie theater before the death of 17-year-old Teria’le Rawls Monday.

The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office has charged 19-year-old Jasper Dudley and Frank Brice, also 19, in connection with the shooting death of the Riverview High School cheerleader Monday, at the Carmike Royal Palm 20 movie theater. Both men are in custody and face second-degree murder charges.

After a party at Touch of Class Lounge, Rawls, her sister Janiyah Moore, and two friends, Alex Riddle and Clyde Lee, visited the Bradenton Riverwalk, then went to a party allegedly being held in the movie theater parking lot. Rawls was in a gold Dodge four-door coup driven by Lee, while Riddle drove a white Infinity SUV, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Moore, Rawls and the two men decided to leave the movie theater after a “short time,” after which Moore heard gunshots and saw Rawls slumped in the back seat of the Dodge, bleeding from her head. Florida Highway Patrol and emergency personnel pronounced Rawls dead shortly after the alleged shooting.

A witness who detectives have not identified saw a black male driving a white SUV fire two rounds before fleeing the Carmike Royal Palm 20 movie theater. Brice and Dudley then began firing at that vehicle and several others leaving the area.

Deputies continue to investigate the incident.
