The Aging in Paradise Resource Center is bringing the Friendship Center’s Powerful Tools for Caregivers beginning Oct. 5.

The six-week course, conducted by certified Friendship Center caregiver Paula Falk, will provide caregivers with tools that enable them to successfully care for a loved one with a chronic disease.

The series will include topics such as effective communication, managing stress and proven stress reducers, creating an action plan, dealing with change and taking care of you.

“The skills learned were life changing,” Dick Pelton, co-chair of Aging in Paradise, said in a press release. “Everyone who participated felt a common bond. We were all dealing with some of the same issues. We shared our stories and learned new and effective ways to cope. I learned that it was essential to take care of myself.”

For those interested in the series but would need to bring their loved one with them, Right at Home will provide a professional caregiver on site at no additional charge.
