On May 23, Sheila Weiser fell while walking on the beach outside her Longboat Harbour residence, and a man and his wife came to her aid.

“You read these awful, awful stories or you hear them on the news, and this couple reinforced everything that’s good,” Weiser said.

Weiser only knows the man’s first name, Pat, but she would like to thank him and his wife for their generosity:

“To Two Good Samaritans,

As I was returning from a walk along the waterfront on Saturday, I fell and was struggling to get up. A good-looking gentleman named Pat came over and helped me up. I was pretty wobbly, and he held on to my arm and steadied me. He then graciously offered to walk me back to where I had started from.

“He proceeded to walk me all the way back to the Longboat Harbour pavilion, crossing the hot sand, and seated me on one of the benches in the shade. Somewhere in the process, his pretty wife came along with a bottle of water and continued walking with us.

“I called Joe Longtin and asked him to come and get me. I was lucky that he was home, having just returned from a bike ride.

“I am very grateful to these people for taking the time to help me, and I want to publicly thank them. They went out of their way to assist a stranger.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.”
