April 10

Dead Fish

9:56 a.m. — 100 block of Sands Point Road

Public Service: A caller contacted police to complain of a fisherman leaving a fish carcass on the beach. The caller said he knows the fisherman and was surprised he behaved in such a way. The caller wanted to make sure the police knew because the fisherman fishes there all the time.

 

Mischief Makers

12:11 p.m. — 6500 block of Gulf Side Road

Trespassing: A man called police to state that, the previous two evenings, several youths entered his construction site and climbed scaffolding to the roof. On both occasions, neighbors chased the youths away. The man said he would check for damage, and asked police to check the area during non-work hours.

 

Manatee Molesters

1:29 p.m. — 600 block of Binnacle Point Drive

Suspicious Person: A caller told police unknown men were jumping from a boat and “molesting manatees.” Upon arrival, the officer made contact with a woman who was watching the manatees with her husband. She said she saw the described boat but did not see the boaters endanger the manatees in any way. The boat and subjects were gone before the officer’s arrival.

 

April 11

Miscommunication

12:31 p.m.— 2000 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive

Disturbance: An officer responded to a call concerning a resident who yelled at a maintenance worker. The worker said she was driving by the resident on her golf cart when the resident yelled at her. The resident told the officer he yelled at the worker to get her attention because she was so far away. He said he was trying to get her attention so she could clean his entrance door. No threats were made, but the caller said she wanted to make a report of the incident.

 

Haunted House

9:37 p.m. — 300 block of North Shore Road

Suspicious Circumstance: A woman contacted police to say she and her family had been watching television when the lights flickered on and off, then she heard a loud bang, like a door slamming shut. She said her husband was away and she was concerned someone may have entered the condo. The officer checked the residence and found no evidence of an intruder.

 

April 13

How Do I Use This Thing?

3:40 p.m.— 5500 block of GMD

Welfare Check: A woman told a responding officer that she was scared for her well-being because she was in the process of switching phone companies and her landline was out of service for the next 12 hours. The officer instructed her how to use her cell phone. The woman felt reassured and did not require further assistance.
