About the position: The Observer has an immediate opening for an assistant editor for its social and philanthropic section, Black Tie. Black Tie is part of our Diversions section. The Black Tie assistant editor reports to the managing editor of Diversions.
Job details: The Black Tie assistant editor produces content for our Black Tie section, which is our social and philanthropic section. This person writes our weekly social column; writes long- and short-form profiles on prominent people in the social and philanthropic community; writes a "Who, What, Wear" fashion blog on our website; writes our online "Black Tie Untied" column detailing the best-of-the-best from weekly events; writes our "Day/Night" fashion column; takes photos and videos at all the social events around town; and generally has their pulse on all the social ins and outs in our area. This position is a great opportunity for a reporter/photographer who is passionate about these topics and is ready to jump in and make it their own.
